Letter "g" works very similar to letter "c", that we have seen in the previous lesson. "G" also changes the pronunciation depending on the following vowel. There are 2 different cases, let's see them.

Letter "g" followed by "a", "o" or "u"

If is followed by "a", "o" or "u", it is pronounced like the first "g" in garage, here you can see the examples:

Letter "g" followed by "e" or "i"

If is followed by "e" or "i", it is pronounced like a "j". This sound is also a little bit complicate for english people, just try listen and repeat.

"gue" and "gui"

One question, we have seen how is the pronunciation of "ga", "go" and "gu", but how can we get that sound with letters "u" and "i" without changing the sound into "j"? This problem is solved using "gue" and "gui". Listen the examples.

"güe" and "güi"

If you noticed in the "gue" and "gui" case, the "u" is not pronounced, imagine we also want to pronounce the sound "u", so that's why we have this two dots over the letter, they are called "diéresis". Listen the examples.
